The day of my appointment arrived and I made as early as possible due to work. Once I arrive the front desk wasn't greeting. I told them I had an appointment and asked if I had to sign in because she just said ok. Than she proceeded to say yes you need to sign in. I sat down than she called me up again to say that i had to fill out a form. No problem me and my mom got up got the form and set back down. The girl that helped out at the beginning was very nice and the doctor itself was very good. He deserves a 5 star, but the whole place deserves 1 star. After I was done she said that the insurance didn't cover contacts and I said sure thats fine. She said that the insurance would only cover $115 dollars for the glasses which I though it was more than enough. I went to check out the glasses and they were EXTREMELY over priced. There was no glasses $115 dollars or bellow and the difference we would pay would still be a lot. I just told her that I would take the prescription so I could find a cheaper option. She said that she couldn't because it was a gift certificate and other places wouldn't accept. She made that a big deal for a while. A man next to her said of course we could that was not a problem. Than she said that my mom wouldn't be able to get a prescription for her contacts because they had to teach my mom to put contacts on and that alone was $69 dollars. I have been wearing contacts for 7 years and so has been my dad, sister and brother in law and no one charges $69 dollars to teach you put contacts on. On top of that the box was $79 dollars for one eye contact. In the mean while their attitude wasn't so good. After having a house fire you don't have money to throw away and I was very disappointed on how they were being so difficult on giving us the prescriptions, when you go to 1-800-contacts and buy these contacts from almost half their price. They were trying to make every excuse possible so you can spend your money on there. You can go to Walmart have way many options for glasses for less than half the price.
Overall, if the Redcross and VSP gift cards are such a pain for them and they won't be treating people fair that have these certificates. Than why offer them. I ended up paying for my contacts went in a different place got my moms contact exam, both of our glasses and contacts for way less than I would spend there after our certificate. This place is RIDICULOUS and so is that rude front desk staff.
I had a contact lens I could not get out and had gone somewhere else and they told me it was not in my eye and it got worse and worse so I decided to go see Dr. Shannon he found it immediately and treated my eye with close supervision and he was so caring and his staff was super. I could have not made it thru this terrible experience without them
I was just here a couple days ago. I recently had a bad event happen in my life and had help from Red Cross and VSP for a gift card for me and my mom get our prescriptions for contacts and glasses. Which I appreciate so much. This was in the list of one of the places that accepted these certificates. I made an appointment in February and was told their next availability was going to be April 11. So I waited 2 months.
