Original Post (10/10/2017): Overall, I feel as if I was coaxed into a false sense of security with the repairs on my Mini Cooper. Though the staff was attentive and courteous, my original repairs at "Christian Brothers Automotive" only helped remedy one of my car's issues that I directly specified upon bringing it to them. I had an oil-leak originally, and evidently my spark-plugs and ignition coil were in bad shape, too. I was told specifically by the staff that my worries about taking my car to the wrong repair shop should be alleviated, especially since I chose them--and because they had specific tools for research that would allow them to solve the problem the first time--they wouldn't waste my time with trial-and-error repair, and wouldn't require me to come back for more repairs because of their precision the first time. Driving off the lot after picking my car up, I realized that the pick-up was better in terms of the shifting of gears (although it does vaguely appear that some of unreliability in shifting gears is still present). However, upon getting home, I realized very soon that the oil-leak hadn't been fixed entirely. I monitored this for a week, and ended up taking the car back to the shop. Although a few other things had been done on the car, the primary concern for the fix was the small pool of oil that accumulated on the floor of my garage under my car. For $1,583.82 to fix less than half of my car's problems seems inefficient and like the exact type of "trial-and-error" repair that I had been warded against so confidently when I took the car in the first time. After taking my vehicle back to them again today, I am surprised that without hesitation they were happy to quote me for new repair costs when the hanging promise of a fix last time failed. I will not recommend their service in the future, as walking is more important than talking--even if they are good talkers.
Below is a disclaimer:
NOTICE: If you have an oil-leak, avoid this repair shop. Have your car thoroughly serviced somewhere else to avoid an up-sale.
Labor: $660.00
Everyone is so friendly and happy you are there. They are honest and keep you aware of anything going on with your vehicle that you might not have known about, I love how they take you to your vehicle to show you what is going on instead of just telling you, that makes me feel import. Reasonably priced too. I do recommend Christian Brothers to anyone that mentions something needs done with their vehicles. Steven is such and asset to the company, I love dealing with him, I don't want to go anywhere else! Thank you, Christian Brothers for your integrity!
Replace Oil Filter Housing Seal: $17.58 (for the seal)
Total: $677.58
Update (10/12/2017): I spoke with the owner of this particular "Christian Brothers Automotive," and it is apparent that the fixes for my car concerns were [evidently] miscommunicated--and now they have found considerable reason to bend their promises by changing their stance on oil-leak repair. As stated by the owner, and due directly to this review and my feedback--they have now added an addendum to all estimates stating that they explicitly no longer guarantee oil-leak repair. This entirely explains why they were unable to "walk-the-walk:" simply because they cannot "stand" behind their promise. The following are the numbers I was quoted when I returned to Christian Brothers Automotive after they failed to fix my oil-leak:
I always bring my Flex to CBA! They are trustworthy, helpful, and friendly! They always find the best prices for me with options, they have never tried to sell me services I didn't need! I will continue to always bring my vehicle here
It was nice to hear about recall that was in place for my car. I was able to get the necessary recall service from dealership just in time. Thank you!
When I was quoted this figure, they stated specifically that the job would take 5-6 hours. This means that the hourly labor-rate would be approximately $110.00/hr - $132.00/hr ($660.00 divided by the quoted 5 - 6 hour maintenance time). After I denied, they quickly offered a "payment" plan--in which I kindly denied.
I purchased a classic vehicle from Gateway Classic Cars and they recommended a pre-buy inspection which was completed by Christian Brothers Cumming, GA..... Working with this shop was a breath of fresh air as I am over 1000 miles away and they were honest and up front about everything.... I was so impressed with them that they are currently completing some repairs on the vehicle before it is shipped to me and have answered my questions (before I can even ask them) and Tom the owner has been great and kept his word when he stated he was going to call me back. Randy the tech was great at answering questions as well... can say enough good about them and I am confident that when I get my vehicle that it will be correctly repaired and love the 2 yr warranty.... They do a good job of keeping me apprised of timelines.
Inspection: $0.00
